Welcome to The Airfix Tribute Forum.
By registering to these forum, you will agree not use the forum to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, violent, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise in violation of any law.
Do not impersonate other individuals or falsely represent yourself or anyone else. Also, please do not create multiple accounts. If you wish to change your username, contact the Administration staff. If you have problems logging-on, then again, contact the Administration staff.
Political/Racist/Sexist/Religious PostsPosts or entire threads which degenerate into such topics as listed in the above heading will not be tolerated and will be removed immediately.
Rumours and Gossip and Other Sources of Information Concerning AirfixATF are often privvy to exclusive information from Airfix and because of this, we do not indulge in the spreading of gossip and rumours but wait until the official announcements from Airfix. Rumours should not be posted on the open forum. Queries about rumours should be addressed to one of the Moderation Team and we will endeavour to find out the truth behind the rumours. Other sources that appear to have come from Airfix must still be verified with Airfix before publication on this site.
We do have a hidden forum so that members can speculate or discuss rumours but it can only be accessed by members signing up to the relevant Usergroup called "Unofficial News of the Sprues".
Prohibited ConductViolation of these rules is grounds for temporary suspension or banning permanently - without warning! No profanity in subject lines, posts, signatures or avatars. This includes thinly veiled attempts to defeat the word filters by using asterisks or other characters to replace letters in profane, obscene, or vulgar words.
No posting of pornographic, violent or other objectionable material in your posts, avatar or signature.
No spamming.
No flaming of other members to incite or perpetuate an argument. Personal attacks or name-calling of members of this forum by other members of this forum is not permitted. This includes those attacks being carried out on forum elsewhere.
Any ATF members who disparage the ATF or make snide comments about ATF on other sites will be banned without warning. After all, why be a member of ATF if it is not to your liking? If you have a problem with ATF, then contact me or one of the Administration/Moderation Team.
As this is an Airfix Tribute site, anti-Airfix sniping will not be tolerated. Some members have signed up here specifically to avoid such behaviour and so it is not welcome. Now that does not mean that I don't want to see constructive criticism of Airfix kits. Constructive criticism is welcomed, and some of the best threads on this forum concern the discussion of Airfix kits, what the problems are, how to correct them etc. That is fine, but the moronic knocking of Airfix and their kits is not. At the time Humbrol/Airfix went into administration, there were lots of rumours spread around about how it happened and why. Some of the rumours were quite libellous and were being perpetuated for quite some time. This will not be allowed on the ATF.
Do not make disparaging comments about other forum, web sites or individuals who are not in a position to defend themselves on this forum. If you wish make comments, then you should make them on those forum, web sites and to those individuals. The same applies to models displayed on other sites too.
Do not post on behalf of a banned member and do not discuss banned members. Any person who does so, or makes posts petitioning for the re-instatement of a banned member will be suspended. If someone has been banned, there is a very good reason for it and the decision is final and irreversible.
Do not post personal information about yourself or others on the open forum (i.e. your age, home address, phone numbers, passwords, e-mail addresses etc.).
Selling on the forum. We have rules in place for private individuals and traders, please follow them.
Rules for private for sale listings, including auctions;
http://airfixtributeforum.wonko3.myfast ... 37&t=13387Rules for traders & shops;
http://airfixtributeforum.wonko3.myfast ... 47&t=13936CopyrightIf
you own the copyright of material then you can post it.
If you
have permission to post material for which you do not own the copyright, then you can also post it.
Please make it clear that you have permission to post copyright protected images.
If you
do not have permission, then do not post the material
until permission is granted from the copyright holder to use it. Post a link to the picture instead. This
includes pictures of models/box-art etc shown on other modelling sites and online shops! You can post a
photograph or an inline image of your own scans and photos of a box and its contents, provided that the images are for research or education purposes and that you make clear that you made the image. For example, "Here is a scan I made of the Matchbox instructions". Where it is not clear whether permission has been granted, the site Administrators and/or Moderators will reduce such images to links.
The only exception to the rule on box-arts etc is that we have been given
permission by Airfix to post their box-arts, catalogue images, flyers and so on.
Material which are regarded as public domain (i.e. copyright has expired or has been removed) can also be posted. Incidentally, a picture found on the Internet does not automatically make it public domain. In these cases, please state that fact in your post and state the source of the photo.
These rules also apply to pictures on this forum. They cannot be used elsewhere without the permission of the owners of the pictures. Requests to use ATF pictures should be made to me.
Posting PicturesWhen displaying your pictures, please restrict the size of your images as a lot of people are still on dial-up.
Keep the width to 800 pixels or less. If you do have a lot of pictures, please post not more than 15 images per post.
When quoting somebody else's post, only quote that part of the post that is relevant and change any images to links instead. This not only helps those members on slow connections, but is standard netiquette - the conventions that should be followed on Usenet, mailing lists, live chat, and Internet forums.
Posts quoting images will be deleted. If an image stretches the page width it is too big and will be reduced to a link by the Admin/Mod Team.
Colour of TextPlease use the default of normal black text on this forum. Not everybody has perfect eyesight or perfect colour perception. Using different colours to black can be very troublesome when reading. You may, however, use colour and/or italics for
emphasis - but not in signatures.
Text Speak Do not use Text Speak on this forum. It is not necessary and can be hard for some people to understand. Typing all in lower case, or upper case, and without punctuation can make posts illegible; such posts will be deleted. This is an English speaking site so please make posts in good, clear English. Be sure to spell correctly otherwise it may not be possible to retrieve posts via the search facility!
Topics And Forums Please try to make an effort to post your messages to the correct forum. Message in the wrong forum will be moved, or deleted. Also, cross-posts and double-posts will be deleted too. Make sure that your post has a meaningful title such as "Advice wanted on how to ... " . Just putting "Help" is actually not very helpful at all.
When posting in an existing thread, do not change the title! Also, do not hijack a thread but make a new one instead. If a thread needs splitting, then ask a member of the Administration/Moderation Team to do so.
When you have made your post, please wait patiently for a reply. Remember that people do not sit at their PC's twenty-four hours a day waiting to answer posts. It is also bad form to follow-up your own posts asking why no one has answered yet.
When your post has been answered, do not then ask a different question in the same thread but start a new thread.
When quoting somebody else's post, only quote that part of the post that is
relevant and change any images to links instead. This not only helps those members on slow connections, but is standard netiquette - the conventions that should be followed on Usenet, mailing lists, live chat, and Internet forums.
Do not insert blank lines or extra spaces in your post to "pad it out".
Signatures and AvatarsNo pictures, web links or banners are to be used in signatures and they will be deleted immediately. Signatures themselves can be no more than 255 characters in length (admins are unlimited - set by the forum hosts, not this site owner) and text should be black and not emboldened - except for links within the forum (such as Portfolio, Works in Progress etc). Signatures should also be no more than five lines deep,
including any blank lines.
Avatars should be no bigger that 80x80 pixels in dimension and normal copyright rules apply. Avatars not meeting these requirements will be deleted without warning. Repeated breaches of these rules will lead to the avatar facility being removed from the member's profile.
Ranking System of Stars and BarsWe have a ranking system of stars and bars on this forum. It is just a bit of fun and reflects the number of posts members have made. There is no other significance to the ranks but if you don't want your posts and rank shown then just say and they will be removed. The threshold for each rank are:

Please do not make unnecessary posts or spam in order to increase your rank as it is not only annoying but your rank will be removed completely. You could find yourself removed from the forum as well.
E-Mail AccountYou must have a valid e-mail account in your profile so a forum administrator can reach you. If you cannot be reached by email, you may be suspended without notice. New members who provide a false email address on registration will have their account deleted.
Site Admininstration E-MailsYou will only receive important Site Administration emails if you sign up to them via the Usergroups link. These emails include Site maintenance periods which may require temporarily denying members access. Unsubscribing does not prevent you from receiving system emails, "watched topic" posts, emails from other members, or test emails that are sent out occasionally. I will still send out those very important emails informing members of matters pertaining to Airfix (such as the recent administration of Humbrol/Airfix and the subsequent buyout by Hornby).
Private MessagingPrivate Messaging (PM) has been enabled on this forum and is just for that - private messaging. Anyone found using this system for spamming other members will have their PM facility removed.
ComplaintsIf you have complaints about something or someone on this forum, please inform me or any of the Moderation Team of your concern by PM or email. Do NOT take action yourself either publicly on the forum or by PM.
SuggestionsAll members are encouraged to make suggestions on ways to improve the forum. All suggestions are considered and wherever possible implemented.
ModerationThe Administrators/Moderators may decide to place a member who has infringed the site rules, under
Moderation. This will restrict that person's ability to PM other members and will require each post to be positively released for public viewing by an Administrator/Moderator. The length of such Moderation will not be disclosed. It will be for a period whereby the person under Moderation will be able to re-establish the trust of the Admin/Mod Team.
Please abide by these rules. They are there to ensure the smooth running and continued success of the forum.
Thank you.
