Anyone know what scale (roughly) the Revell Easykit Falcon is?

Which one?  There are two.

The "real" dimensions of the Falcon are canonically known (Wookiepedia)so determining the scale of the kits should be easy to work out.

I believe that Revell claims that their large MF kit one is 1/72, but actual measurements (and comparison to the Fine Molds 1/72 kit) indicate that it is a little smaller than that, maybe 1/75.

Revell make no claim about the scale of their "pocket" kit but it works out to about 1/316.

(PS Canonical spelling of the ship's name is "Millennium Falcon" -- note the two "n"s in "Millennium".)

Thanks I did'nt realise there was a bigger one, is it still available? The easykit is quite expensive, £20 on amazon, seems a lot for a 1/316!
Ah just checked and I now see they are both easykits  ! Does it build up to a reasonable kit or is the Fine Molds one a better bet?

I don't know from personal experience (I haven't built my FM MF yet) but the Fine Molds kits are the "gold standard", which is why it costs several bars of gold to get one.

(Don't forget that FM also make a 1/144 MF which is just as good, but smaller and cheaper.)

I've not heard anyone say bad things about the Revell kit.  (Well, except for me: for what you get in the box, the Revell Star Wars kits are significantly overpriced -- at least here in Australia.  The prices seem more reasonable in Europe.)

I have one of the 'large' Milennium Falcon easy kits. If you are looking for a model to build, then I think it is very over priced at £26. You can 'build' it OOB in about 10 minutes. Alternatively there is an Airfix/ERTL/MPC kit (can't remember exactly who) which would probably bring more modelling enjoyment to you. This maybe harder to find though. Probably nowhere near as good as the Fine Moulds, but more work involved then the easy kit.

No "probably" about it.

Quite a bit more work and cost, when you factor in all the expensive resin aftermarket required to fix the numerous errors.

The large Revell Millennium Falcon is 375 mm long. If assuming a "real" length of 31.1 m (what the Fine Mold kit at 1/72 gives), this gives a scale of 1/83. The "canonical" length is 26.7 m (which most people agree is too small) which gives a scale of 1/71.

Despite having superb and accurate detailing, the Fine Molds Millennium Falcon has significant shape errors, the most noticeable being that the inner sides of the mandibles are parallel to each other, instead of pointing in. The Revell kit suffers from the same major shape error as the MPC kit, its side walls are too high.

Here are the lengths and scales of the various Millennium Falcon kits.

MPC/AMT/ERTL 469 mm (1/66)
Fine Molds 432 mm (1/72)
Revell 375 mm (1/83)
Fine Molds 216 mm (1/144)
MPC Rebel Base 146 mm (1/213)
Revell (pocket) 110 mm (1/283)

Barely noticeable, so hardly "significant" IMO.

OTOH, the MPC/AMT/ERTL MF is good enough for me :)

Hmm might hold out for one of those then, give evil bay a search later, think I would prefer a bit more work then just throwing it together! As I said in an earlier post on this forum I did find one for £40 plus postage somewhere before!
